Transcend Dentistry – Protection Policy

1. Overview

This document outlines the Protection Policy terms and conditions for dental procedures performed at Transcend Dentistry. Our comprehensive policy is designed to ensure optimal long-term outcomes through proper maintenance and care. The policy covers both restorative and surgical procedures, addressing the structural integrity, function, and quality of materials and procedures provided by Transcend Dentistry.

2. Eligibility Requirements

To maintain the Protection coverage, patients must:

1. Complete annual examinations at Transcend Specialized Dentistry
2. Attend a minimum of two professional hygiene visits per year
3. Follow prescribed oral hygiene protocols
4. Use prescribed protective appliances (e.g., night guards) as directed
5. Comply with post-operative care instructions and additional maintenance recommendations as specified by your dental team
6. Failure to meet any of these requirements will void protection coverage.

3. Coverage Terms:

3.1 Restorative Coverage Period

Years 0-5:

• Full coverage for defects or failures related to the quality of dental work performed or materials used
• No cost for qualifying repairs or replacements

Years 5+:

• Standard pricing applies based on current pricing at time of service
• No protection policy coverage

3.2 Special Material Considerations

Composite Bonding:

Repair fees apply to staining and wear of composite bonding from the start due to the nature of the material.

Acrylic Prostheses (Dentures and Implant Overdentures)

• Acrylic materials are more susceptible to staining and wear compared to other dental materials. Normal staining and wear are not covered under protection policy.
• Dentures will require periodic relines as oral anatomy changes naturally over time. These relines are not covered under protection policy and will incur standard fees.
• Any adjustments or modifications needed due to natural changes in oral anatomy will incur standard fees.

3.3 Surgical Coverage:

Coverage for surgical revision in cases of short-term failure (within one year of surgical procedure) where: 

• Patient has followed all post-operative care instructions
• Patient maintains good oral hygiene as instructed
• No contributing medical conditions or lifestyle factors affected healing
• No patient compliance issues exist

For qualifying cases:

• No treatment fee for revision procedures
• Material fees may apply for extensive regeneration cases

Examples of covered situations:

• Implant failure within the integration period
• Graft failure with proper post-operative care
• Regeneration procedure requiring revision despite protocol compliance 

 4. Exclusions

The protection policy does not cover:

• Natural biological changes (e.g., gum recession, bone remodelling, natural tooth wear)
• Damage from external trauma or accidents
• Cosmetic changes or replacements requested for aesthetic preference
• Issues arising from failure to follow prescribed maintenance protocols
• Staining or discoloration from dietary habits or lifestyle choices
• Alterations or repairs performed by other providers
• Normal wear beyond expected material longevity
• Temporary or provisional restorations

5. Protection policy Claims

• To initiate a protection policy claim:
• Contact Transcend immediately upon discovering an issue
• Schedule an evaluation appointment

6. Compliance Assessment

Protection policy coverage is subject to ongoing compliance evaluation during annual examinations and hygiene visits. Non-compliance may result in policy coverage termination.

7. Additional Terms

• All pricing for repairs or replacements is based on current fees at the time of revision service
• Policy coverage is non-transferable
• Coverage applies only to treatments completed at Transcend Specialized Dentistry

8. Legal Considerations

This policy represents a limited agreement between Transcend Specialized Dentistry and the patient. It does not modify or override any applicable laws or regulations governing dental practice in British Columbia.
